Candlelight evening, Westduin
Lichtjesavond, on Christmas Eve at the graves of the Allies and the graves of the resistance group Van Han Stijkel, has become a concept in Loosduinen. This year, Stichting Nationale Herdenking ‘s-Gravenhage, in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague, is organizing this very impressive gathering again.
During this evening, candles will be lit at the graves of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Volunteers from the foundation provide a guided tour of approximately one hour along places in and around this cemetery that had historical significance during the Battle of the Residence and the further course of the Second World War.
Afterwards, they will provide a hot drink by the warmth of the fire baskets.
December 24, walk-in from 16:00, tour starts 16:30. Ends around 17:30.
