Former chairman and honorary member of the Stichting Nationale Herdenking ‘s-Gravenhage, Niek Lelyveld, has left a financial legacy to the Foundation. Niek was not only a member of the Foundation but also an educator through and through. Informing youth about the consequences of war in particular played an important role in Niek’s life.
The current board has therefore decided to establish the “Lelyveld Fund” with the legacy. From this fund, an amount of 500 euros will be made available annually in the coming years to those institutions that actively inform young people about and involve them in the annual 4 May commemorations (in The Hague). Institutions with an educational character that demonstrably transfer knowledge about the theme “commemoration” can receive a contribution towards the costs.
